  • School Link Scheme

School Link Scheme

School linking provides a unique opportunity to transform the lives of children in both the UK and Tanzania.

Your pupils will learn about important global issues whilst developing philanthropic values and an appreciation for the educational opportunities available to them.  At the same time, your school will provide life-changing support to a partner school in rural Tanzania and contribute towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

What’s involved?

We will provide you with:

  • A profile of your link school
  • A PowerPoint presentation which shows what it is like to be a child in Tanzania
  • Age appropriate opportunities for pupils to communicate with their link school peers
  • Regular updates on the progress of the link school with videos and photos
  • Materials and support for any fundraising activities you decide to implement
  • Pictures of what the money you raise is spent on
  • If we have someone available in your area, we will also send an EdUKaid Ambassador to talk to pupils and attend any fundraising activities

 We ask you to:

  • Identify a named member of staff for us to communicate with
  • Find opportunities to include related activities in to your lessons - we can help you with this
  • Encourage your pupils and wider school community to learn about EdUKaid
  • Organise a few fundraising activities each year as you see appropriate—set your own target based on what you think is achievable for your school

How your school will benefit

Pupils will:

  • Gain a better understanding of global issues
  • Learn about, and engage with, the cause they are supporting
  • Understand the challenges faced by their peers in the developing world and find out what they have in common
  • Gain an unforgettable insight into life and learning in a school in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Understand the workings of a charity
  • Transform the lives of some of the world’s most disadvantaged children

We have been working with EdUKaid for nearly three years now and love the 'personal touch' that it is often not possible to get with bigger charities

Other benefits

As well as providing opportunities to bring to life subjects including RE, PSHE and Geography, the scheme can help you achieve the British Council International School Award and the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award.  Funding may also be available through the British Council Connecting Schools Programme for teachers to visit the partner school.
