Zamda is 12 years old and comes from a large family with 5 younger brothers and sisters.  They all live in a small mud hut with her mother, elderly grandparents and 2 cousins.  To make ends meet Zamda’s mother collects shellfish to sell so Zamda often misses school to help look after her siblings.  Zamda began to fall behind with her studies and was at risk of dropping out before she reached secondary school.

Thanks to EdUKaid’s extra tuition lessons at weekends and evenings when her mother is home to look after the other children, Zamda has been able to catch up with her schooling and is now back on track to pass her primary school leaving exam.

Zamda told us:

I was scared I would have to leave school and would have no chance of getting to college to be a nurse which is what I really want to do when I am older.  Now I have hope.

The work EdUKaid do can only happen because of the funding you provide.
